Exponential Restoration of Purpose and More

Hello beloved, so we’ve talked a lot about restoration in our past messages, but today we’re going to dive deeper into understanding its purpose. When we think of restoration, we often think of the physical aspect of it – getting something back to the way it used to be. However, restoration in the Bible goes far beyond that. It’s about having a renewed purpose and calling in life.

Let’s take a look at some examples from the Bible. In II Samuel 9, we see David seeking out anyone from the house of Saul that he can show kindness to for Jonathan’s sake. He finds Mephibosheth, who was previously crippled and living in exile. David restores to him all the land of Saul his grandfather and invites him to eat at his table continually. This restoration had a significant purpose – to show kindness for Jonathan’s sake and to bring Mephibosheth back into the fold of the family.

In Luke 15, we see the Parable of the Prodigal Son. The son squanders away his inheritance and eventually hits rock bottom. However, when he decides to return home, his father greets him with open arms and restores him to his rightful place in the family. Again, the restoration had a purpose – to show the son that he was loved, valued and that his place in the family was never in question.

In II Kings 8, we see a woman who had lost everything appeal to the king for help. Interestingly, the king was hearing about all the great things that Elisha had done, and when he heard about the woman whose son Elisha had restored to life, he was moved to help her. The purpose of her restoration was to show that God is faithful and powerful.

Finally, in Joel 2:25, we read that God will restore the years that the locusts have eaten. This is a promise that God will restore what has been lost and that the purpose of the restoration is to bring us back to where we need to be in our lives.

Do you see the common thread amongst these examples? The restoration had a purpose – to show love, bring someone back into the fold, show God’s power and faithfulness, and to bring us back to where we need to be in our lives. So, as we enter into this season of exponential restoration of purpose and more, let’s remember that the purpose of our restoration is far greater than just getting something back to the way it used to be. Let’s walk in the renewed purpose and calling that God has for us.
